Photography Club formed within
Arts Association of Oldham Co.

‘Winter in Kentucky’ replaces Artistique show
at Gallery 104

LA GRANGE, Ky. (December 2016) – A new photography club is being formed, based on the photography shows the Arts Association of Oldham County has put on over the years. Led by T. Rene Boone and Ann Stroth, club members will be sure to learn as they create.

Ann Stroth

Both women are professional photographers, experts in their field. Boone, who lives in Crestwood, Ky., runs her own business shooting portraits, events, music and theatre, and nature.
Stroth is an accomplished photographer with 37 years of experience. She also works in the mediums of textiles and jewelry. She chairs several annual shows for the Arts Association.
“We are in a developmental mode, using the needs of the members to provide the structure,” said Stroth of the club. For example, at some of the group’s first meetings, they will go out on a group photo session, then progress to assignments. Images will be critiqued in a group setting.
“Paring knowledgeable photographers with the novice” is one goal of the group. “The needs of each individual club member will be addressed,” she said.
So far, the group has 10 active members and 42 members of the Facebook group, “Oldham Photo Group.”

Marion Gibson calls the formation of this new photography club “a great addition to the Arts Association.” Gibson is Membership Chair and director for the annual Oldham Arts on CityPlace show, one of several annual shows put on by the association.
“There are a number of us who love to take pictures but don’t really know how to use our equipment. To have pros like Ann Stroth and others to help us, we feel like we’ll be able to take our hobby to the next level.”
Stroth is a member of Kentucky Photo Pro and the Professional Photogra-phers of America.
Gibson said the photography club is “one more reason that people should be members of the Arts Association of Oldham County.”
Winter show planned at Gallery 104 in La Grange
The Arts Association of Oldham County will be holding its Winter in Kentucky show from Nov. 22 to Jan. 7, 2017. This will replace the annual Holiday Artistique display.
Winter in Kentucky contains “holiday shopping and gift ideas featuring art by Gallery 104 juried artists,” said Ann Stroth, show chair. “From $10 to $300, there is something for everyone’s budget.”

All artwork in the show was created by Gallery 104 juried artists: Elizabeth Kirkwood (jewelry, 2-D mixed media, photography), Robbie Mueller (folk art, mixed media), Roxanne Kopp (stained glass), Ann Klem (glass bead jewelry), Laura Lenz Bowman (oil painting), Jana John (clay artist), Robert Moore (pottery), Carole Logan (en plein air painter), Tom Kinney (mixed metals jewelry), Angela Campbell (oil painting), Lois Stickler (handbags from reclaimed materials) and Stroth (photography).
The purpose of this exhibit is to “support our gallery artists,” said Stroth. “To be a juried artist in Gallery 104, you are not required to be an Arts Association member.”
The Arts Association was established in 1997. Gallery 104 opened on Main Street in La Grange on May 10, 2007. The Arts Association then began offering art classes, artists’ talks and art shows, and continues to offer scholarships to area high school seniors.
The art that Gallery 104 carries is created by juried local artists.
“It is made in Kentucky, supporting local people and the economy. It is quality, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted chosen by customers as a special gifts,” Stroth said.
